What do you think about social media in libraries?
I think they are the way of the future. We need to use them, but I think too much info thrown out into the
world of ideas is a little overkill and wasteful. We need to be sure to make it relevant and important to our patrons.
What do you wish FPL was (or wasn’t) doing?
I know we do use a lot of media--Facebook, blogs, tweets, etc. I think we need to get a following and see what needs or community has for these applications.
Have you learned anything from the program?
Yes, I have learned a lot. How to find a lot of information, keep up with online information, or just plain waste time. I use Facebook. I use Googlemaps. I can't get into Twitter and do not consider Wikipedia a credible source for much. I find a lot of social media is politically based far left agenda--which I now see the right attempting to catch up with. It bothers me that there is so much propaganda that the Youth take as fact. Okay, off of my soapbox. At least now I can keep up with things better.
If not, what could we do better?
I like human interaction, so I guess I am not the best person to ask about social media or online training.
